The gauge is set to dimension slightly longer than expected length of sound post. It is first introduced into high part (center) of violin sound Box. When moved to lower area in the violin, the violin sound post gauge will assume the length at that position. It is the carefully withdrawn retaining this new length
HOW IT WORKS
The PRO-Plus inserting tool is used to more accurately define sound post position. The handle arm extension is lowered to show position of the top of the gauge
VSP=G2 viola is a larger telescopic gage to measure violas and some full size violins. Includes magnetic cap to measure angle and resolution plate for easy angle display, best when used with VSP-PRO2 or PRO-2Plus Setter. To measure length for sound post, first remove the cap and resolution plate, adjust gauge lslightly longer than expected length, set the gauge to correct spot under instrument belly then slide lower gauge arm untill gauge is vertical, gently tilt the gauge and remove to show the length.
